Supplier scorecards for SAP users

Supplier scorecard software for SAP: what you already have, what SAP Ariba adds, and where EvaluationsHub fits

If your company runs SAP S/4HANA or ECC, you already own a vendor evaluation. This page explains what it measures, what SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance adds on top, and when a dedicated scorecard layer next to SAP is the better choice.

Short answer: SAP’s standard vendor evaluation scores suppliers from purchasing and quality transactions, such as price, on-time delivery, quantity and quality notifications. SAP Ariba SLP adds stakeholder surveys, KPI scorecards and supplier collaboration, as a separate cloud subscription. EvaluationsHub gives SAP users that second layer without a second SAP project: it reads supplier data from SAP, adds stakeholder ratings, CAPA and a supplier portal, and is priced per managed supplier with free internal and supplier users.

What SAP gives you out of the box

Classic SAP vendor evaluation (ECC and S/4HANA on-premise) calculates scores from Materials Management and Quality Management data. The standard main criteria are price, quality, delivery, service, invoice verification and sustainability, each built from subcriteria. Weighting keys decide how much each main criterion counts in the overall score, and buyers can enter manual scores for criteria the system cannot calculate.

  • Price: price level against the market price and price history over time.
  • Quality: goods receipt inspection results, quality audits and complaints.
  • Delivery: on-time delivery, quantity reliability, compliance with shipping instructions and confirmation dates.

In SAP S/4HANA Cloud the same idea runs through Fiori apps: supplier evaluation by price, time, quantity and quality (inspection lots and quality notifications), plus a questionnaire score. Scores can be stored as history by a scheduled job and sent to suppliers as output.

That is useful, and it is already paid for. If your main question is “which suppliers deliver late or send bad parts?”, start here and invest in clean master data and goods receipt discipline.

Where the standard evaluation stops

The standard evaluation is built on transactions. The questions procurement and quality teams increasingly have to answer sit around those transactions:

  • Stakeholder judgement. How plant, quality, logistics and engineering rate a supplier on responsiveness, cooperation or innovation, which never appears in a purchase order.
  • Different rules per segment. A strategic supplier and a non-critical supplier should not be evaluated the same way or at the same frequency.
  • Action, not just a score. A falling score should open a corrective action with an owner, a deadline and the supplier involved.
  • The supplier’s side. Suppliers improve faster when they can see their own scorecard and respond to it.
  • Evidence beyond delivery. Certificates and their expiry dates, ESG questionnaires, audit results and QBR minutes.

SAP’s own training also notes a structural limit of the classic LIS-based evaluation: a system-supported comparison of supplier evaluations across company codes or plants is not possible in the standard system.

How EvaluationsHub sits on top of SAP

SAP stays the system of record for vendors, purchase orders, goods receipts, invoices and quality notifications. EvaluationsHub reads that data, adds the stakeholder ratings, supplier scorecard and corrective actions, and sends scores and action status back.

SAP S/4HANA or ECC keeps the transactions. EvaluationsHub adds the people, the judgement and the follow-up, and shares them with the teams and suppliers who act on them.

SAP’s answer: SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance

SAP covers this second layer with SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance (SLP). Its supplier performance management projects combine KPI scorecards, stakeholder surveys and recurring evaluation phases, and results can be shared with suppliers. SLP also handles supplier registration and qualification.

Three things to know before you choose it:

  • It is a separate subscription. Ariba modules are licensed as cloud subscriptions, separate from your ERP, and SAP asks customers to choose between SLP and SAP Ariba Supplier Information and Performance Management rather than subscribing to both.
  • Integration is its own workstream. SAP-to-SAP connections typically run through SAP Integration Suite or the Cloud Integration Gateway, which independent licensing advisers note carries its own licensing.
  • The platform is changing. With release 2602 (February 2026), SAP began moving Ariba to a unified architecture on SAP BTP, which ties supplier management decisions more closely to your wider SAP cloud strategy.

If your company already runs sourcing and buying on Ariba and has an Ariba team, SLP is the natural extension. Many SAP customers never bought Ariba, or bought only part of it. For them, the second layer is a new project.

When each option is the right one

Stay with standard SAP vendor evaluation when

  • Delivery and quality transactions are what you need to score, and your master data is clean.
  • One central buyer team owns the evaluation and suppliers do not need to see their scores.

Choose SAP Ariba SLP when

  • Your sourcing and buying already run on Ariba and you have the team to configure and run it.
  • You want registration, qualification and performance in one SAP cloud suite and accept the separate subscription.

Choose EvaluationsHub when

  • SAP is your system of record for transactions, but you need multi-stakeholder scorecards, corrective actions and supplier collaboration without a second SAP project.
  • You want to start with one segment, for example your strategic or bottleneck suppliers, and pay only for the suppliers you actually manage.
  • Plants, quality teams and suppliers need access without buying more licences.

How it works next to SAP

Example workflow

A machinery manufacturer on SAP S/4HANA segments its 300 active suppliers and starts with 40 strategic and bottleneck suppliers.

  • Supplier master data comes over from SAP through the API, so names and supplier numbers match.
  • Delivery and quality figures are imported from SAP. Each quarter, the plant, quality and logistics leads rate the same suppliers on cooperation and responsiveness.
  • Weighted scores per segment produce the scorecard. The supplier sees its own scorecard in the supplier portal.
  • A score below the agreed threshold opens a corrective action with an owner and a due date, and the supplier responds in the portal.
  • Before the business review, the scorecard history, open actions and meeting notes are in one place. Scores can be written back to SAP through the API.

Questions buyers ask

Does EvaluationsHub replace SAP vendor evaluation?

No. It reads supplier data from SAP and adds what sits outside the transactions: stakeholder ratings, segment rules, corrective actions and the supplier portal. Scores can be written back to SAP through the API.

Do we need SAP Ariba to use EvaluationsHub?

No. EvaluationsHub connects to SAP ERP directly through its API. It also works standalone or next to other ERPs.

Which data comes from SAP?

Supplier master data syncs from SAP. Delivery, quality and spend figures can be imported through the API or as CSV. Evaluation results, corrective action status and scores can flow back.

Do our suppliers need a licence or a network account?

No. Supplier portal users are free, and suppliers only need an invitation to the portal.

How is it priced?

Per supplier you actively manage in the platform, not per seat and not by the size of your full vendor list. You can start with one segment.

Where is the data hosted?

On AWS in the EU (Paris region). EvaluationsHub is ISO 27001 certified.
