Supplier relationship management in 2026
The vendor landscape, the analyst apparatus behind it, and an evidence-based sequence for running a procurement transformation that holds.
Abstract
Supplier relationship management (SRM) is the discipline of segmenting a supplier base, measuring supplier performance against agreed criteria, governing the relationship, and converting that governance into commercial and operational value. In 2026 it sits inside a technology market that is simultaneously consolidating into source-to-pay suites and fragmenting into specialist layers for supplier data, supplier risk, supplier performance, and intake orchestration.
This report maps that market. It lists the vendors covered by each major analyst evaluation, states the publication date and inclusion criteria of each evaluation, and explains what those criteria mechanically exclude. It then sets out the sequence in which a procurement transformation should be executed, and the decision process by which SRM technology should be selected. Every factual claim is attributed to a dated, named source in the register at the end.
The central finding: the published analyst landscape is structurally calibrated for very large enterprises. Gartner's source-to-pay evaluation requires a vendor to hold at least 40 live customers with $500 million or more in revenue before it can be considered. Buying organisations below that threshold are therefore making SRM decisions using maps that were drawn for a different terrain.
Disclosure of interest
This report is published by EvaluationsHub, a supplier lifecycle and performance management platform. EvaluationsHub appears in the functional coverage matrix (Table 4) alongside other vendors that span multiple layers, and in the supplier performance and relationship vendor table (Table 7). In both it is marked and described using the same fields and standards applied to every other vendor, including a coverage row for procure-to-pay marked as not offered. It holds no analyst placement and none is claimed; its validation entry lists certifications and public funding awards, the same standard applied to its peers. Readers should weigh the vendor listings accordingly and verify every placement against the primary sources in Section 10.
What SRM is, and what it is not
Six terms are used interchangeably in the market and mean materially different things. Getting them apart is the precondition for a coherent requirements document.
- Supplier relationship management SRM
- The governance discipline: segmenting suppliers by strategic importance, defining a relationship model per segment, running structured business reviews, and holding joint improvement and innovation plans. SRM is a management practice that technology supports; it is not itself a software category.
- Supplier performance management SPM
- The measurement subset of SRM: scorecards, KPI definition, evaluation cadence, stakeholder survey collection, corrective action tracking, and performance-linked commercial consequences.
- Supplier information management SIM
- The data subset: onboarding, qualification, master data quality, document and certificate expiry, bank detail validation, and the golden record that other systems consume.
- Supplier risk management SRM-R
- Continuous monitoring of financial, operational, geopolitical, cyber, ESG and compliance exposure across a supply base, including sub-tier mapping. Gartner treats this as its own market with its own Magic Quadrant.S2
- Supplier value management SVM
- Forrester's category name. It is broader than SRM: Forrester's evaluations of supplier value management platforms assess the full source-to-pay footprint rather than supplier management alone.S3
- Source-to-pay S2P
- Gartner defines the source-to-pay suite market as an integrated set of solutions to source, contract, request, procure, receive and pay for goods and services across an enterprise, typically sold as cloud software.S1 Supplier information and performance management is one module inside that suite, not the suite's organising principle.
The practical consequence
A supplier relationship problem and a supplier data problem look identical in a requirements workshop and have almost no overlap in solution. If your suppliers are not being reviewed, you have an SRM problem. If your supplier records are wrong, you have an SIM problem. If you buy a platform for the second when you have the first, adoption will fail and the failure will be attributed to the software.
Why the discipline is under pressure in 2026
Four independent evidence bases point the same direction: supplier management has moved from a differentiator to an obligation, and most organisations are not equipped for it.
Supply continuity has overtaken cost as procurement's first objective
The Hackett Group's 2026 Procurement Key Issues research, released 17 March 2026, found that ensuring supply continuity has become procurement's leading objective, surpassing cost reduction.S4,S5 Deploying AI-enabled technology entered the top three procurement priorities for the first time, and moved from eighth to second place on the transformation agenda year over year.S5
- 71%of procurement organisations have adopted generative AI at pilot or large-scale implementationS5
- 56%have deployed agentic AI — both figures close to double the prior yearS5
- +8%projected increase in procurement workload, against declining headcount and operating budgetsS6
- +6.1%planned increase in procurement technology spend to compensateS6
- 80%of leaders name AI-enabled technology the top driver of change over the next five yearsS6
Supplier performance is where digitally mature organisations pull away
Deloitte's 2025 Global Chief Procurement Officer Survey, its twelfth edition, gathered responses from more than 250 CPOs across some 40 countries.S7,S8 It separates respondents into "Digital Masters" and followers, and the performance gap is widest on precisely the supplier-facing metrics.
| Performance area | Digital Masters | Followers | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost savings | 96% | 80% | 16 pts |
| Cost avoidance | 94% | 75% | 19 pts |
| Internal stakeholder satisfaction | 84% | 59% | 25 pts |
| Supplier performance | 84% | 59% | 25 pts |
| Innovation enablement | 56% | 24% | 32 pts |
Deloitte's own reading of the data is worth stating plainly: the largest capability gap that followers can close is simply to set KPIs in areas such as cost avoidance, stakeholder satisfaction, supplier performance, working capital, revenue uplift and supply risk.S9 The deficiency is not measurement accuracy. It is the absence of measurement.
On risk, the three mitigation strategies rated most effective by respondents were maintaining active alternative sources (74%), greater visibility into the supply chain (64%), and enhanced supplier information sharing and collaboration (61%).S8 All three are supplier-relationship activities rather than sourcing-event activities.
Only a small minority of organisations run mature SRM
State of Flux's Global SRM Research, now in its seventeenth year, drew on 484 procurement and supply chain professionals across 335 organisations in 13 industries.S10,S11 It found that just 6% of organisations demonstrate mature SRM capability, while suppliers are responsible for up to half of the end-customer experience.S10,S11,S12
Regulation has set a hard, dated floor for supplier due diligence
The European Union finalised its Omnibus I simplification package in early 2026. Directive (EU) 2026/470 was published in the Official Journal on 26 February 2026 and entered into force on 18 March 2026, following Council adoption on 24 February 2026 and European Parliament adoption on 16 December 2025.S13,S14,S15
The amended Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive now applies to companies with more than 5,000 employees and more than €1.5 billion in net worldwide turnover, and to third-country companies with more than €1.5 billion in net turnover on the European market.S14,S16 Member States must transpose by 26 July 2028 and companies must comply from 26 July 2029, with Article 16 reporting measures applying to financial years starting on or after 1 January 2030.S13,S15
Read the second-order effect, not the threshold
The narrowed scope removes most mid-sized companies from direct obligation. It does not remove them from the obligation's reach. Companies above the threshold must conduct risk-based due diligence across their chain of activities, and they discharge that duty by requiring evidence from their suppliers. A €300 million manufacturer selling into three in-scope customers will answer three due diligence programmes regardless of its own exemption. The Commission is required to publish CSDDD guidelines by July 2027 and model contract clauses, and both CSRD and CSDDD carry review clauses under which scope could tighten again.S15,S17
The analyst apparatus, and how to read it
Five research houses publish evaluations that shape SRM shortlists. They use different market definitions, different inclusion thresholds, and different funding models. Treating them as interchangeable is the most common error in a technology selection.

How the evaluations differ in ways that matter
Gartner scores what it weights, and publishes the weights
In the 2026 source-to-pay Magic Quadrant, Ability to Execute weights Product/Service as High; Overall Viability, Sales Execution/Pricing, Customer Experience and Operations as Medium; Marketing Execution as Low; and Market Responsiveness as not rated. Completeness of Vision weights Offering Strategy and Innovation as High; Market Understanding and Geographic Strategy as Medium; Sales Strategy and Vertical Strategy as Low; and Marketing Strategy and Business Model as not rated.S1
Read that carefully and a Magic Quadrant position becomes interpretable rather than authoritative. A vendor can move up the execution axis on customer support metrics and financial stability without any change to the functionality you are buying.
Forrester runs two instruments with the same subject and opposite purposes
The Wave scores nine providers in depth. The Landscape names twenty-nine without scoring them. Forrester's Landscape count has also moved: 42 providers in the Q2 2022 Now Tech, 31 in the Q2 2024 Landscape, 29 in Q1 2026.S20,S26,S27 If a vendor tells you it is "recognised by Forrester," establish which instrument. Inclusion in a Landscape is a statement of market presence, not of assessed capability.
SolutionMap is the only one with mandatory demonstrations and non-commercial participation
SolutionMap evaluates vendors against more than 500 functional and capability requirements across 16 source-to-pay categories, requires product demonstrations, and combines them with anonymised verified customer ratings. It has run twice a year since 2017 and grew from 79 vendors across 12 categories in Spring 2024 to 118 vendors across 16 categories in Spring 2026.S21,S22,S28 Spend Matters was acquired by The Hackett Group in 2025 and the methodology now sits inside its Solution Intelligence practice.S21
Everest Group evaluates the people, not the platform
The Procurement Outsourcing PEAK Matrix classifies providers as Leaders, Major Contenders and Aspirants across market impact and vision-and-capability. The 2025 assessment covered Accenture, Capgemini, Chain IQ, Cognizant, Conduent, Corbus, Corcentric, Datamatics, Dragon Sourcing, EXL, Genpact, GEP, HCLTech, IBM, Infosys, LogicSource, Nexdigm, ProcureAbility, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Velocity Procurement, Wipro and XBP Global.S25,S29
The rule for reading any of them
Ask three questions of every placement a vendor cites. Which report, and what is its exact title? What date and document ID? And what were the inclusion criteria — that is, who was structurally unable to appear regardless of merit? The third question is the one that changes shortlists, and it is the one almost nobody asks.
The source-to-pay suites

Market structure and direction
Gartner estimates a five-year compound annual growth rate of 16.3% for the source-to-pay technology market, reaching approximately $18.685 billion in annual software spend by 2029.S1
Three structural movements are visible in the 2026 evaluation. Ownership and leadership are turning over: Esker was taken private in January 2025 with Bridgeport Partners acquiring a majority stake, JAGGAER installed a new CEO with much of its leadership team new as of 2025, and Coupa acquired category management specialist Cirtuo.S1 Agentic AI has become a scored dimension rather than a roadmap item. And intake and orchestration vendors are entering from an adjacent market, typically with lighter overall functional depth but a natively AI-shaped architecture.S1
The inclusion criteria, stated in full
These matter more than the placements. To qualify for the 2026 source-to-pay Magic Quadrant, a vendor had to own the source code and sell as a single integrated standalone solution all of: sourcing, contract lifecycle management, supplier information and performance management, procure-to-pay, a supplier collaboration portal, and spend analytics. It had to provide at least one of category management, advanced sourcing optimisation, or supplier risk management. Modules had to integrate natively with no additional customer integration work, and be ERP-agnostic. And then the thresholds:S1
- At least 40 customers with $500 million or more in revenue or operating budget, live in production, running the required modules plus at least one standard module.
- At least 12 new customers at that revenue scale signed during calendar year 2024.
- At least four customers in the last twelve months with expected primary usage in geographic regions different from the vendor's home region.
A vendor serving 300 mid-sized European manufacturers superbly is not eligible. This is not a criticism of Gartner's method — the report is explicitly aimed at procurement technology leaders selecting a single enterprise-wide suite, and the thresholds are appropriate to that job. It is a caution about generalising the output beyond that job.
The specialist layers: every player, by function
Outside the suites, the supplier management market resolves into five functional layers. Vendors compete fiercely inside a layer and rarely across layers, which is why "SRM vendor comparison" produces incoherent results unless the layer is fixed first.
Coverage across functional areas
The layer diagram shows where each vendor concentrates. It does not show how far a vendor reaches beyond its core layer, which is the question a buyer evaluating a multi-layer platform actually asks. The matrix below maps a set of vendors that operate across more than one layer against nine functional areas. It is deliberately limited to layer-spanning vendors and suites; single-layer specialists are covered in the tables that follow and would show a single column of coverage by definition.
Coverage is marked on three levels. Core means the function is a primary, fully productised capability. Partial means present but narrower in scope, or delivered through a partner or a lighter module. — means not offered as a distinct capability. Marks reflect each vendor's public product documentation and, for EvaluationsHub, its production feature set as at July 2026. This is a structural map, not a scored ranking, and depth within a mark varies between vendors; a Core mark for a suite and a Core mark for a specialist are not claims of equal sophistication.

| Procure-to-pay / payments | — | — | Partial | — | Core |
† EvaluationsHub RFx covers RFI, RFP and RFQ with structured evaluation; advanced reverse-auction functionality is not a primary capability. Suite RFx typically includes advanced sourcing optimisation and auctions.
Two things are visible in the matrix that the layer diagram cannot show. The suites cover nearly every area, thinning only where a function requires specialist depth, which is the trade a buyer accepts when choosing breadth over focus. And among the specialists, the pattern of Core marks differs by heritage: apexanalytix is strongest where it began, in data and risk; Kodiak Hub and EvaluationsHub concentrate their Core marks in the performance-and-governance layer while reaching back into data. A vendor's row is, in effect, a map of where it came from. The gap a buyer should probe is not the number of Core marks but whether the marks cluster around the layer the buyer most needs.
How to use the matrix in a selection
Rank your own nine areas before reading any vendor's row. A vendor whose Core marks align with your top three requirements is a stronger fit than one with more Core marks spread across areas you do not need. Breadth is only an advantage where it removes an integration you would otherwise have to build and maintain; where it does not, a focused specialist with fewer marks and greater depth in your priority area is frequently the better choice. The matrix exists to make that trade explicit, not to reward the longest row.
These platforms own onboarding, qualification, master data quality and the golden supplier record. They are typically bought when a suite exists but its supplier data is untrustworthy, and they frequently sit between the ERP and everything else.

Layer 4 — Supplier performance and relationship
The thinnest layer in analyst coverage and the one most directly aligned with SRM as a management discipline. There is no Magic Quadrant for supplier performance management. Spend Matters covers it inside its Supplier Relationship Management and Risk category, and Forrester folds it into supplier value management. The consequence is that buyers in this layer have the least external validation available to them and must rely more heavily on structured reference checks.

Layer-spanning as a market position
Three of the six vendors above operate across more than one layer, reaching back into supplier data and forward into governance. That combination is a structural position rather than a longer feature list. When onboarding, qualification, risk monitoring and performance evaluation resolve against a single supplier record, there is no handoff between systems and therefore no reconciliation argument when a scorecard is disputed. When they sit in separate platforms, the reconciliation problem becomes the programme's dominant cost, and it is the most common reason performance data is challenged rather than acted on.
This layer is also the least instrumented by analysts of the five. There is no Magic Quadrant for supplier performance management. Coverage exists only inside broader categories: The Hackett Group's supplier relationship management and risk category within SolutionMap, and Forrester's supplier value management. Buyers evaluating this layer therefore have less external validation available to them than buyers of risk or suite technology, and should compensate with structured reference checks and pilots rather than by defaulting to whichever vendor is most visible.
Layer 5 — Intake and orchestration
The newest layer, and the one attracting the most venture funding. These platforms do not replace a suite; they sit in front of it, routing requests and coordinating approvals across systems. Gartner added Zip to the source-to-pay Magic Quadrant in 2026 as its only new entrant, placing it in the Visionaries quadrant and noting that its roadmap concentrates on agentic AI rather than traditional functional workflows.S1 Spend Matters added ConvergentIS, Omnea and Spendflo to its intake and orchestration category in Fall 2025, with Coupa and Ivalua also expanding into that category.S45
Representative players: Zip, Omnea, ORO Labs, Levelpath, Tonkean, Focal Point, Spendflo, ConvergentIS, Globality, Pactum. Reported aggregate funding across the AI procurement orchestration cohort exceeds $1.2 billion.S32
Adjacent: the services layer
Transformation is rarely executed by software alone. Everest Group's 2025 Procurement Outsourcing PEAK Matrix assessed 23 providers, with Accenture positioned as a Leader and Star Performer.S25,S29 If part of the operating model will be outsourced, the service provider selection should run in parallel with, not after, the technology selection, because the two decisions constrain each other.
The coverage floor
The single most useful thing to understand about the SRM vendor landscape is not who is in it. It is who the evaluation methods make invisible.
Gartner's source-to-pay inclusion criteria require 40 live customers at $500 million or more in revenue, plus 12 new such logos in a calendar year.S1 Forrester's Wave scores nine providers.S3 Its Landscape names twenty-nine.S20 SolutionMap is the broadest instrument at 118 vendors, and even that requires the vendor to submit to a 500-requirement RFI and a mandatory demonstration.S21
These are all reasonable design choices for the job each report does. Taken together, they produce a landscape in which the published evidence is dense above roughly $1 billion in buyer revenue and thin below it.
What a mid-market buyer should do about it
Nothing in this section argues that analyst reports should be ignored. They remain the best available synthesis of the enterprise end of the market and their methodology sections are genuinely instructive. The argument is narrower: below roughly €1 billion in revenue, the analyst report is a market education tool rather than a shortlist. Four adjustments follow.
- Use the criteria, discard the placements. Gartner's list of required and standard modules, and its published weightings, is a well-constructed requirements skeleton. Lift the structure; do not lift the vendor list.
- Weight verified customer ratings above position. SolutionMap is the only instrument combining functional assessment with anonymised verified customer ratings and mandatory demonstrations.S21 For a mid-market buyer, that combination carries more signal than a quadrant coordinate.
- Reference-check at your own scale. A reference from a $12 billion customer tells you nothing about implementation effort at $400 million. Insist on references matched on revenue band, supplier count and internal team size.
- Run a paid pilot on real data. Below the coverage floor, an eight to twelve week pilot on a live supplier segment generates more decision-relevant evidence than any report. Design it before you shortlist, so vendors are compared on identical pilot terms.
How a procurement transformation actually works
The sequence below is ordered by dependency, not by convention. Each stage produces the input the next stage requires. Skipping a stage does not accelerate the programme; it relocates the failure to a later, more expensive point.
Where to start: the supplier governance ladder
The sequence above assumes you begin at stage one. Most organisations do not. The ladder below is a diagnostic for locating the current position, developed by the author from research on buyer-seller relationship value and applied in supplier management programmes. Each rung depends on the one beneath it, and skipping a rung is the mechanism by which programmes stall.
Two practical readings follow. If you are at level 0 or 1, the binding constraint is data, not governance, and a supplier performance platform bought now will produce disputed scorecards. If you are at level 2, the constraint is decision rights, not measurement, and more sophisticated scoring will not help. State of Flux's finding that 6% of organisations reach mature SRM capability is consistent with a population concentrated below the discipline threshold, though the two frameworks measure different things and should not be equated.S10
Stage 1 — Baseline and segment
Segment the supplier base before anything else. A workable segmentation uses two axes: spend or business criticality, and switching difficulty. The output is a small strategic tier, a larger managed tier, and a long tail handled transactionally. Deloitte's survey found that increasing supplier collaboration was among the top strategies procurement organisations were pursuing, alongside renegotiating with existing suppliers and consolidating spend.S46 Collaboration is only affordable if it is targeted.
Realistic proportions in a mid-sized organisation: 20 to 60 strategic suppliers under full SRM governance, 150 to 500 under performance measurement, and the remainder under compliance monitoring only.
Stage 2 — Define the value case
Deloitte's clearest finding is that the gap between leaders and followers is often the absence of a KPI rather than a poor result against one.S9 Before any technology conversation, write down the measures the programme will move, their current baseline, and who owns each one. Candidate measures that hold up in a boardroom: on-time-in-full, quality rejection rate, supplier-originated cost reduction, supplier-originated innovation accepted into a product roadmap, cycle time from qualification to first order, and percentage of strategic spend covered by a current review.
Stage 3 — Fix the supplier record
This is the stage most often underestimated. Scorecards are only as credible as the entity they are attached to. Duplicate records, stale certificates, incorrect ownership data and missing bank validation will each independently discredit a performance programme. Where the data problem is severe, a dedicated Layer 2 platform is usually cheaper and faster than a suite module. Gartner's 2026 evaluation notes that global regulations on know-your-supplier and carbon reporting are pushing organisations to implement controls earlier in the process.S1
Stage 4 — Design governance before selecting technology
Write the operating model on paper first: which suppliers get a quarterly business review and which get an annual one; who from the business must attend; what the scorecard contains and who contributes to it; what happens when a supplier scores badly twice in a row; who can approve an exception. State of Flux frames this as building capability, frameworks and governance as the foundation, and reframing measurement around what suppliers deliver for the end customer rather than for procurement alone.S12
Only once this exists can a requirements document be written that discriminates between vendors. Without it, every vendor meets every requirement.
Stage 5 — Select and pilot
Covered in detail in Section 8.
Stage 6 — Embed and measure
The test of an SRM programme is whether supplier performance data changes a commercial decision. If a poor scorecard does not affect volume allocation, contract renewal or payment terms, the programme is administrative rather than managerial. Build the link explicitly: define in advance which score thresholds trigger which commercial consequences, and get that agreed by the category owners before go-live rather than after.
On AI in the transformation
Adoption is now mainstream rather than experimental: 71% of procurement organisations report generative AI at pilot or large-scale implementation and 56% report agentic AI deployment, roughly double the prior year in both cases.S5 Organisations actively advancing AI initiatives report measurable gains in productivity, cycle time, quality and risk mitigation, with reported productivity and cycle-time improvements in the 9 to 10 percent range.S6 Note the sequencing implication: AI compounds a working process and amplifies a broken one. It belongs at stage six, not stage one.
The decision process
A structured selection has five gates. The purpose of the structure is to make the decision defensible after the fact, when the sponsor who approved it has moved on.
Gate 1 — Fix the layer
Decide, in writing, which of the five layers in Figure 2 you are buying. If the answer is more than one, decide whether you are buying a suite that covers several layers adequately or best-of-breed platforms that cover one layer well. Gartner observes that a healthy best-of-breed market persists but that such solutions increasingly complement a central suite rather than compete with it on core processes.S47
Gate 2 — Build the requirements from published criteria
Use the Gartner module list and the SolutionMap category structure as the skeleton, then add your governance model from Stage 4. Weight the requirements before you see any vendor. Unweighted requirement lists are retro-fitted to the preferred vendor in every organisation, without exception.
| Dimension | Suggested weight | What it tests |
|---|---|---|
| Fit to your governance model | 25% | Can it run your review cadence, your scorecard, your escalation path without custom development? |
| Supplier-side experience | 15% | Effort required of the supplier to participate. Gartner notes supplier adoption is often the key factor in realising value.S1 |
| Data integration and record integrity | 15% | ERP integration, API completeness, duplicate handling, master data ownership |
| Internal user experience | 15% | Whether category managers and business stakeholders will actually complete evaluations |
| Configurability without vendor services | 10% | Can your team change a scorecard, or does every change become a change request? |
| Total cost including AI over five years | 10% | Gartner explicitly flags divergent AI monetisation models across vendors — free, new SKU, per-user uplift, token-basedS1 |
| Vendor viability and support model | 10% | Financial stability, support geography and hours, escalation path, roadmap governance |
Gate 3 — Shortlist on evidence, not familiarity
Three to five vendors. Draw them from at least two different analyst instruments plus one source outside analyst coverage, so the shortlist is not an artefact of a single inclusion threshold. For each vendor, record the exact report, date and document ID behind any claimed placement.
Gate 4 — Pilot on identical terms
Write the pilot specification before you contact vendors, and give every shortlisted vendor the same one. Specify the supplier segment, the number of suppliers, the scorecard, the duration, the internal participants, and the success criteria. Eight to twelve weeks with 10 to 25 real suppliers is enough to surface the things demonstrations conceal: how long a supplier actually takes to respond, how much chasing the procurement team does, and whether category managers complete their sections.
Gate 5 — Decide and record
Record the weighted scores, the pilot evidence, the references contacted with their revenue band and supplier count, and the dissenting view. The dissenting view is the most valuable artefact in the file: in eighteen months it tells you whether the risk you accepted materialised.
The failure modes, in order of frequency
- Buying a data platform for a governance problem. The supplier records get cleaner. Nobody reviews a supplier.
- Governance designed backwards from the tool. The operating model becomes whatever the configuration allows.
- Scorecards with no commercial consequence. Effort is spent, behaviour does not change, participation decays.
- Supplier burden underestimated. Suppliers respond once, then stop. The dataset becomes partial and the scorecards lose authority.
- No baseline. The programme delivers real improvement and cannot prove it, so it loses funding in the next budget cycle.
- Single-threaded sponsorship. The champion leaves and the programme has no independent constituency. Deloitte identifies siloed operations (57%) and competing priorities (46%) as the leading barriers.S9
Questions and answers
Which vendors are in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Source-to-Pay Suites?
Thirteen vendors were evaluated: Coupa, ebidtopay, Esker, GEP, Ivalua, JAGGAER, Mercado Eletrônico, Oracle, SAP, Synertrade, ZHENYUN Technology, Zip and Zycus. Coupa, GEP, Ivalua, Oracle, SAP and Zycus were placed as Leaders; JAGGAER and Zip as Visionaries; ebidtopay, Esker, Mercado Eletrônico, Synertrade and ZHENYUN Technology as Niche Players. No vendor was placed in the Challengers quadrant. The report was published 21 January 2026 under document ID G00833291.
Is there a Gartner Magic Quadrant specifically for supplier relationship management?
No. Gartner publishes a Magic Quadrant for Source-to-Pay Suites and a separate Magic Quadrant for Supplier Risk Management Solutions, the second edition of which was published 4 May 2026. Supplier information and performance management is treated as a module inside the source-to-pay suite market rather than as a standalone market. Supplier performance management as a discipline is covered by Forrester under supplier value management and by The Hackett Group's SolutionMap under supplier relationship management and risk.
What is the difference between SRM and SPM?
Supplier relationship management is the governance discipline: segmentation, relationship models, business review cadence, joint improvement plans. Supplier performance management is the measurement subset within it: scorecards, KPIs, evaluation cycles and corrective actions. SPM without SRM produces data that changes nothing. SRM without SPM produces meetings without evidence.
How many organisations actually run mature SRM?
Six percent, according to State of Flux's 2025 Global SRM Research, which surveyed 484 procurement and supply chain professionals across 335 organisations in 13 industries. The same research finds suppliers are responsible for up to 50% of the end-customer experience.
Does the EU CSDDD still apply after the 2026 Omnibus changes?
Yes, with narrowed scope and later dates. Directive (EU) 2026/470 entered into force on 18 March 2026. The CSDDD now applies to companies with more than 5,000 employees and more than €1.5 billion in net worldwide turnover, and to third-country companies with more than €1.5 billion in EU net turnover. Member States must transpose by 26 July 2028 and companies comply from 26 July 2029. Both CSRD and CSDDD carry review clauses under which scope could tighten again.
What is procurement's top priority in 2026?
Ensuring supply continuity, which overtook cost reduction in The Hackett Group's 2026 Procurement Key Issues research released 17 March 2026. Deploying AI-enabled technology entered the top three priorities for the first time, and moved from eighth to second place on the transformation agenda.
Why do so many procurement technology implementations underdeliver?
The most common cause is sequence. Governance is designed after the platform is selected, so the operating model becomes whatever the configuration allows rather than what the business needs. The second most common is measurement: Deloitte's 2025 CPO Survey found the largest gap for lower-performing organisations was the absence of KPIs in areas such as supplier performance and supply risk, not poor results against existing ones.
How should a mid-sized company use analyst reports when selecting SRM software?
As a requirements skeleton rather than a shortlist. Gartner's source-to-pay inclusion criteria require a vendor to hold 40 or more live customers with $500 million or more in revenue, which structurally excludes vendors focused on smaller buying organisations. Use the published module lists and evaluation weightings to build requirements, weight verified customer ratings above quadrant position, insist on references matched to your own revenue band and supplier count, and run a paid pilot on live suppliers with identical terms across shortlisted vendors.
